Dodge 4.7 Timing Chain Tensioner Noise. Trying to get a little bit more info on my effed up 4.7. Now run the cam sprockets up into the head and line the cams keys to the sprocket.

Fyi, here's a picture of the timing system on a 4.7. If the noise is still present after unplugging each injector then i would be more inclined to a top end issue like a lifter. On the 4.7 liter dodge engine there are 2 chain tensioners an upper drivers side and lower passenger side one.
If It's Loosening And Tightening Depending On Where The Cam Is Clocked, It Almost Sounds Like The End Of The Cam Is Bent Or The Gear Isn't Seated Correctly.
After digging around, i found the right side timing chain was making the noise, so i bought a new timing chain and put it back together, but it's still got the same noise. Checked compression, #7 read about 95 lbs, all others read at 145 lbs. Eventually the chain stretches and the gears get worn enough that the chain is not held tight anymore, and will start to.

It Quiets Down Once Its Warmed Up, But Sometimes The Sound Completely Goes Away.
Upon opening the drivers side, i found pieces of the timing chain tensioners and guides laying in the rocker valley. My local o'reilly's keeps the cloyes & melling 4.7 timing. It's a 2001 4.7 and had a knock in the motor.

Sounds like a bad rod/wrist pin. If the noise is still present after unplugging each injector then i would be more inclined to a top end issue like a lifter. If the noise goes away with an injector unplugged then its likely a bottom end issue.
